ROWHOUSES LÁZNĚ BOHDANEČ

The primary conception of this project is based on a maximal use of the cardinal directions, passive solar gain and natural sunlight, in the row houses location context. A regard to every row house inhabitants' privacy is another principle of the design. The row houses are separated into two volumes. The distance of the main two-storeyed mass from the pavement is 4,2m, the distance of the one-storey mass is 5m. All these height, mass and distance dissimilarities make the frontage more playful, and prevent monotonicity. The distance from the pavement provides sufficient privacy, optimal garden size behind the house, and a second parking lot directly in front of the house. The house's lengthwise position on the plot and the dividing into two volumes allows to situate a large majority of all the rooms to south-east and maximize the amount of sunshine coming to the rooms. The houses are linked together with a one-storey mass part and form a private space between them. The row houses design uses materials with natural colours and tones. The main material is a classic render in white, brick and light grey shades. The two-storey mass surface of all the houses colour is in contrast to the one-storey mass colour. This colour differentiation clearly distinguishes the functional parts of the houses. A clinker cladding in tones similar to the tones of the facade is used on the entrance surface and the strip between windows.
